Wishlist is fortunate to have the unwavering support of generous partners who share our vision of improving healthcare for our community. One of our Life Partners is Aitken Legal, a workplace law specialist that works exclusively on behalf of employers.
Aitken Legal has been supporting Wishlist for more than 18 years through the provision of probono workplace contracts and advice. Over the years, Managing Director Lisa Aitken and her team have meticulously prepared and updated employment contracts for Wishlist staff, while regularly advising on workplace policy. This invaluable assistance has saved our charity significant time and money, allowing us to focus on our core mission. Lisa Aitken’s dedication extended even further when she served as a Wishlist Board Member for eight years, from 2010 to 2018.
Aitken Legal has actively spearheaded fundraising initiatives that have directly benefited Wishlist. For a decade, the organisation hosted The Sunshine Coast Corporate Charity Golf Challenge as part of 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal, successfully raising nearly $400,000 net of costs for Wishlist. After an eight-year pause, the impactful event returned in 2024, raising an impressive $61,064 for Wishlist through 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 which helped the purchase of the purchase of a $85,000 MRI-Compatible ventilator for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital's (SCUH) Neonatal Unit.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Lisa Aitken shared, “Give Me 5 celebrated 25 years this year, so it was great to bring back Aitken Legal’s golf challenge after an eight-year hiatus to support Wishlist and the incredible work the charity does to improve local health services for our families.
“Feedback from our charity golf day has been fantastic and we are proud to hand over $61,064 to Give Me 5 and Wishlist.”
Beyond hosting large-scale events, Aitken Legal has also supported the 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal by assisting a local hairdresser in her inspiring bid to break the World Record for the most haircuts completed in 24 hours, sponsoring haircuts for homeless individuals on the Sunshine Coast as part of the event. Their compassion and innovative involvement shone through yet again, reinforcing their dedication to uplifting the local community.
Over the years, Aitken Legal has also supported Wishlist through numerous other campaigns and appeals, including:
- Contributing to Wishlist's Spring Carnival auctions
- Becoming a Wishlist Centre Room Donor, supporting Room 17
- Donating services to the 2023 Give Me 5 Ultimate Marketing Package Raffle
- Raising $4,750 (from 11 donors) for Wishlist Giving Day 2020
- Sponsoring and entering a team in the Wishlist Row 4 Cancer
“Wishlist has done extraordinary things for the health services on the Sunshine Coast and assisted thousands of families to make their hospital experience so much better. Most people on the Sunshine Coast will at some stage benefit from Wishlist’s work. That is why we are proud supporters of Wishlist, and have been since 2007,” states Aitken Legal.
