We are thrilled that the Woolworths and Children’s Hospital Foundation Easter Fundraising Appeal is back once again supporting our sickest kids right on the Sunshine Coast.
The Woolworths Easter Appeal is a national Woolworths Fundraising Appeal and the Children’s Hospital Foundation is the state beneficiary for Queensland and northern NSW.
Wishlist are the very lucky chosen charity that will receive 100% of donations made in local Woolworths stores between March 30 and April 19 – to enable us to make the hospital experience better for patients like Bella in the paediatric ward at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Meet brave Bella:
Bella has faced it all – she lives with a rare genetic syndrome and underwent open heart surgery before her eighth birthday.
Her heart problems are unrelated to her rare disorder – DiGeorge Syndrome – which currently has no cure. This chromosomal disorder results in poor development of several bodily systems, and can cause heart defects, poor immune system function, and more.
Bella was only one day old when doctors picked up a heart murmur, and shortly after, Bella failed to meet any of the major developmental milestones and was experiencing feeding issues. She was struggling to keep her weight up, and every little cold resulted in a hospital admission.
Her official diagnosis didn’t come until she was 16 months old, which was a relief for her mum, Charlotte, and her entire family. Despite it all, nothing can dull Bella’s smile, and her bubbly personality is contagious.
Thanks to Woolworths fundraising efforts, Bella’s long stays at hospital to recover from both her open heart surgery and for treatment of her disorder were made that much easier thanks to Children’s Hospital Foundation support support services. And these support services wouldn’t be possible without you – the Woolworths team and their customers.
Starts: 30 March 2022 – Ends: 19 April 2022
The funding is facilitated by the Working Wonders Grant Round, in which Wishlist has been so fortunately been the recipient of for many years.
Come on Sunshine Coast! Lets see what we can achieve together during this vital campaign!
