It has been a busy month at Wishlist placing orders for various items of equipment and resources to make the hospital experience better for patients and families.
Wall Art has now been installed in the Medical Imaging Department at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. This project was funded by 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal to help distract and entertain young patients needing x-ray and ultrasound procedures.
A number of resources have also been delivered for the Gympie Child Health Speech Pathology Service to help health staff assist children with potential developmental delays.
A set of wheelchair scales were also funded by Wishlist to ensure the inclusion of all abilities visiting the outpatients service at Gympie Hospital.
Assessment tools for the Paediatric Allied Health Team are now being used to assess young patients, also funded by 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal.
A $10,000 pilot program, driven by Obstetrician Dr Emma Seed, has also been approved to improve the surgical care of women with early pregnancy loss, as well as vital equipment and resources for nurse-led Health and Wellness Clinics to support mental health patients at a community health clinic at Nambour.
Next month we hope to see the arrival of bariatric equipment including a specialised shower chair and wheelchair for Gympie Hospital, costing around $23,000.
A $3000 art project has also been kicked off to improve the delivery of culturally-safe maternity services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait families at Gympie Hospital.
