About The Service
The Gympie Patient Transport Service provides free transportation for Gympie residents travelling from Gympie Hospital to clinical appointments at Nambour Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Birtinya health hub. This essential service operates two services daily - Monday to Friday - excluding public holidays.
Funded by Wishlist, this service aims to reduce the stress and burden of long-distance travel for medical care. The service follows a fixed timetable with designated pick-up and drop-off points, ensuring timely and reliable transport for patients.
How To Use The Bus Service
Departure Times
Gympie Nelson Reserve via River Rd departure times departure times:
6.20am & 11.35am.
Nambour Hospital main entrance departure times:
7.20am, 9.50am, 12.40pm, 4.55pm.
Sunshine Coast University Hospital (south entrance) departure times:
9am & 3.50pm.

Gympie Hospital patients requiring outpatient appointments, treatment or day procedure, plus a maximum of one carer per patient.
How many seats are on the bus?
Each trip can take up to 19 people.
Where do I park my car in Gympie?
The designated Gympie pick-up point is in Nelson Reserve via River Rd which has free no limit parking.
Can children use the transport service?
Patients must be over 16 years. Children under 16 not requiring a child restraint seat can be transported if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Is the bus wheelchair-accessible?
Yes, the Gympie Patient Transport Service is equipped to accommodate one wheelchair and has capacity to store 4 mobility aids.

The first two years of this transport service have been funded by Wishlist, with an investment of $256,000.
