Three pieces of equipment worth almost $120,000 are now being used for endoscopy procedures at the Interventional Suites at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Nambour Hospital.
Endoscopy Clinical Nurse Consultant Timmy Hucker says the Wishlist purchase of three Scope Guide Units optimises colonoscopy and enteroscopy procedures by providing real time 3D images of the shape and position of the endoscope inside the body.
These procedures can be challenging and time consuming but a Scope Guide can assist in reducing times significantly while making it safer for the patient.
“They are also an essential training tool for new endoscopists and we are very grateful to Wishlist for funding these items,” Tim says.
“It allows our endoscopy team to better identify and rectify looping that can occur, and assists in determining the exact location of abnormalities plus increase our ability to provide unsedated colonoscopies.
Thanks to donations to Wishlist, up to 150 patients a week will benefit from this equipment at SCUH and Nambour.
