The roar of Harley Davidson motorbikes will sound the start of 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal this year with tickets released this week to the popular event – now in its 15th year.
The Sunshine Coast Harley Owners Group (HOGS) have teamed up with the local radio station to raise thousands of dollars on Sunday, June 5 to help make the hospital experience better for sick kids.
All through June, 92.7 MIX FM’S Give Me 5 appeal along with a host of volunteers, community organisations, and local businesses, are getting together to raise funds for child health services on the Sunshine Coast – Wishlist is the grateful chosen local charity.
92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 Event Coordinator Lisa Bathersby said the HOG Ride was traditionally at the end of the month but has been moved to June 5 to kickstart fundraising over the month.
“I spoke to many who attended last year who said the day touched their hearts after previously going through the stress and helplessness of having a sick child in hospital,” Ms Bathersby said.
“The day is one you’ll never forget and it’s definitely one of the most memorable Give Me 5 events.
“You’ll be on the back of a purring Harley Davidson for most of the day tracing through the picturesque Sunshine Coast hinterland, so please bring your long pants, long sleeves, enclosed shoes and a beaming smile.”
The event kicks off bright and early from 7am at Harley Riders Club Maroochydore – indulge in a delicious bacon and egg roll with the legends of the Sunshine Coast Harley Owners Group, and at 8.30am riders will motor off in style towards the stunning places and spaces of the hinterland.
Riders can look forward to a rejuvenating morning tea and hearty lunch at the places steeped in Sunshine Coast history – The Glasshouse Tavern and The Palmwoods Hotel – where a number of prizes will be up for grabs thanks to generous local businesses.
Funds raised on the day will be directly to support services within Wishlist Centre, patient support services within our local public hospitals, vital medical equipment and more.
