Gympie locals urged to support hospital this Xmas

1st December, 2021

Hospital foundation Wishlist could bring Christmas early to one lucky Gympie local this year with a brand-new Toyota Yaris Cross up for grabs.

As part of the annual Wishlist Car Raffle, purchasing a ticket for just $10 is a simple way for Gympie residents to support local patients and families this Christmas with all funds going towards Wishlist Centre.

The three prizes include a Toyota Yaris Cross GX petrol in the winner’s choice of colour thanks to Sunshine Toyota, two nights accommodation for two at Hotel Laguna in Noosa Heads, and a Sunshine & Sons Gin and Tonic pack – total prize value $32,249.

Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said Wishlist Centre is Australia’s first facility to offer affordable patient accommodation, primary healthcare and complementary therapies under one roof, with an opening expected in mid-2022.

“Wishlist Centre has been purposefully placed opposite SCUH because we see real value in having a loved one close during, or after, a medical crisis to enhance a patients wellbeing. Gympie residents have the headache of being over an hour away from SCUH,” Ms Rowe said.

“That is why we need your help Gympie to ensure Wishlist Centre is all it must be for patients and families from country to coast. You never know when you might need to travel to SCUH for a family emergency and find accommodation close to hospital.

“Three out of four guests who stay in our existing affordable accommodation are from the Gympie region.”

Thanks to our Wishlist Coffee House staff and volunteers at Gympie, the coffee house has raised an impressive $503,199.55 since opening in 2013, to enhance the clinical experience of Gympie patients.

“A Smileyscope is on its way to Gympie Hospital’s emergency department, and the stories we’re hearing about the effectiveness of the device, in reducing the need for medication on agitated and distressed children would melt your heart,” she said.

The Wishlist Car Raffle will be drawn on Thursday December 23 at 2pm. Help Gympie patients and families who need it most this festive season by purchasing a raffle ticket at wishlist.org.au
