Corporate volunteers driving local charity’s success

Local businesses are answering the call of a local Health Foundation’s need for corporate volunteers on their biggest fundraising event of the year.

Wishlist Giving Day is a 12-hour digital fundraising appeal on Thursday March 24 that aims to raise funds for the needs of Sunshine Coast public hospitals. Last year generous health staff, the local community and businesses helped raise a record $330,500.

Loyal supporters of Wishlist like Sunshine Toyota, Work Locker and Ausmar Homes have earmarked Wishlist Giving Day as a prime opportunity to build stronger and happier teams.

Worklocker Maroochydore Director Nick Dempsey said they have an eager team ready to return to the phones after having a total ball last year raising over $10,000 collectively in just half a day.

“For us Wishlist is close to our hearts, it’s a local charity that supports a fantastic cause. They have achieved so much for the Coast and we’re all really looking forward to March 24,” Mr Dempsey said.

“Last year we stayed back for five hours because the team were having so much fun ringing around. It took them outside of their comfort zone and by the end of it we couldn’t drag them away.

“The people of the Sunshine Coast are so responsive to helping on Wishlist Giving Day. I would strongly encourage each business to send some people down and get your customers and suppliers to donate.”

Wishlist Fundraising & Partnerships Manager Lisa Wilson said this year’s funds will go towards vital medical equipment, services to support patients, innovative medical research projects and Wishlist Centre.

“This annual appeal is such a special fundraiser – it’s the only time where supporters can have their donation doubled by our very generous local businesses and families – also known as ‘matchers’,” Ms Wilson said.

“The success of Wishlist Giving Day wouldn’t be possible without the relentless support from our corporate volunteers on the day who donate their time to reach out to previous donors and their personal contacts.

“For a couple of hours hitting the phones on behalf of Wishlist, we’ll look after your business with refreshments, free parking and merch, and we’ll give you a shoutout on social media to shine a spotlight on your invaluable contribution.

“And best of all – you’ll leave with a full heart.”
