This state-of-the-art equipment is essential for providing critical care to some of the region's most vulnerable patients - newborns under six months of age.
Currently, newborns needing MRI scans must be transported to Brisbane, which can pose additional risks during the transfer.
The availability of this ventilator at SCUH will allow these newborns to receive necessary scans locally, improving the speed and safety of their care.
The total cost of the ventilator is $85,000. The remaining $55,000 has been funded by donations raised during 92.7 Mix FM's Give Me 5 appeal in June.
"We are immensely grateful for the support from the GCBF and our community, whose contributions will make it possible for newborns on the Sunshine Coast to receive the best care without the need for long-distance transfers," Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe says.
"This critical equipment will improve outcomes for the youngest patients in our region."
