OH WHAT a feeling it is to receive not one, not two, but three new cars in one day.
Sunshine Toyota delivered three Yaris cars to Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe yesterday, two of them paid for outright by community donations from Mix FM's Give Me 5 For Kids fundraiser.
The Currimundi dealership, named this week as a new alliance partner with Wishlist for the next three years, donated the third car.
And while we're not sure how Ms Rowe managed to drive three cars back up to Nambour General Hospital, she was certain they will come in very handy.
"New mums across the Coast will have better access to the extended midwifery service home visits thanks to these smart new vehicles," she said.
"Child health nurses go out to new mums within days of them arriving home from hospital, to give them that support very early.
"And that is so important. I think it's a priceless gift for new mums to have someone come to your house and go through your routine and help you perhaps do things a little better."
The cars will be dedicated specifically to the extended midwifery services. Wishlist had been leasing Toyotas over the past three years.
"It became less than ideal to continue leasing vehicles and Sunshine Toyota said 'let's make it affordable'," Ms Rowe said.
"We have a longstanding corporate partnership with a number of businesses including Westpac and the Telstra shops.
"And we are really pushing for more at the moment. They are such a vital part of our fundraising efforts. And our health service, which already has 4700 staff, will grow by 2500 in the next two years, so our ability to promote our alliance partners to those families is a valuable resource. We'd be keen to talk to more corporates about accessing that."
Sunshine Toyota dealer principal Darren Venning said his dealership was proud to be a major alliance partner.
"As a 100% family owned and operated company, we pride ourselves on supporting our community whether it be charities, schools or sporting teams,'' he said.
"When the opportunity came up to become an alliance partner with Wishlist we quickly jumped at it.''
