More equipment arrives for kid's continence service

13 Aug 2024

As part of a $7,825 grant the Sunshine Coast University Hospital's (SCUH) continence service was able to access brand new equipment and educational materials to help local, young patients and their families.

The equipment initially consisted of four NeuroTrac devices which provide biofeedback via electrodes as well as books and toileting equipment but now includes a male pelvis model.

Physiotherapist, Kelly Harrison, explains how the new model will help young patients "Our male anatomical pelvis model will be a great addition to our physiotherapy continence clinic appointments as it will help supplement the education we provide to young boys and their families and carers about their bodies."

The model was funded through the joint efforts of Wishlist and the Buderim Foundation which contributed $5,239 as part of their grant scheme.
