"The SCUH mortuary recently underwent a refurbishment to soften the look of the public area in response to feedback from the community. The viewing area is a multi-use space which grieving families may attend to view their loved one, while also functioning as a coronial mortuary. The patient safety team were successful in gaining funding from Wishlist and handed the reigns to consumers to make design choices they thought best suited the space. While the scope of the project was limited to minor aesthetic changes, the consumers enjoyed consulting on the project and we are elated with the outcome and beautiful artwork they have chosen. The patient safety team would like to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of the mortuary staff, Pathology Queensland and the Emergency Department social workers, as well as a hearty thank you to Wishlist for their support."
