Supporting Nambour Hospital’s café – Wishlist Coffee House – has led to a $4000 boost for mental health patients.
Equipment including ping pong tables, weighted blankets, craft supplies and game consoles have been delivered to two Nambour Hospital departments for patients experiencing and living with mental illness.
Wishlist was able to fund the items directly from Wishlist Coffee House profits to help support recovery and foster hope among patients of the newly renovated Pandanus and Bunya units at Nambour Hospital.
Pandanus Unit Nurse Unit Manager Kerri-Ann Ross spoke about the difference the equipment will make to patients.
“All of this will have a hugely positive impact on the experiences of people we see here on the unit,” Ms Ross said.
“Although they may seem like small items, it empowers our staff to create a positive environment so that people experiencing mental illness can make a quick recovery.
“We want to say a huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Wishlist Coffee House who made this possible.”
Wishlist Coffee House Manager Wendy Southam heads a team of 12 - many who volunteer - to serve coffee and fresh home-style cooking on weekdays at the busy hospital.
“It’s so good to see where our hard work goes and that it’ll make a real difference to patients at the hospital,” Ms Southam said.
Wishlist Coffee house is open 7:30am-2:15pm Monday to Friday with all proceeds going back to Nambour Hospital for the benefit of patients and families.
