UP-TO-DATE SOFTWARE RE-INSTATED

02 Dec 2014

A popular online database was discontinued December 2013 much to the dismay of hospital staff. Through generous funding by Wishlist, the Private Practice Trust Fund and the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, the ‘Up-to-date’ database is back and better than ever.

The online database is used for patient point-of-care which reduces time in hospitals, increases efficiency and gives doctors, nurses and clinicians information at their fingertips.

Nambour Hospital Library Manager Pauline Hurrey said up-to-date gives all information on diseases, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and rehab.

“It’s really, really useful and very easy to use,” Ms Hurrey said.

CEO Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Services Kevin Hegarty said the outcome of the lack of up-to-date was heard loud and clear.

“People wanted to log on before the implementation even happened,” Mr Hegarty said.

“So now we can celebrate the return of up-to-date in an improved version that’s here for the long haul.”

The new up-to-date software is a re-established district wide access to a product that’s accessible on-site, by tablet and mobile devices through an app.

Nambour Hospital Library Manager Rob Penfold said the program is now usable at work and at home making it easier for doctors and nurses to access the information they need when they need it.

The total value for up-to-date for a three year subscription is $273,192.56. Wishlist has committed to funding $20,000 per annum for three years and the Private Practice Trust Fund has committed to fund $121,731.17. The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service has agreed to fund the difference.
