‘The Mattress Company’ has signed on as an official furniture donor to The House The Coast Built for 2015, with the local Yandina business committing to provide nearly $10,000 worth of mattress ensembles for the home.
Owners Robert and Shelley Boesten celebrate a decade in business this month and said they’re excited to be involved in the major Wishlist fundraising project that is aiming to raise more than $300,000 to go towards paediatric needs across the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
“We have two children and we know we landed softly compared to many other parents, as we’ve never needed any significant medical support for them,” Mr Boesten said.
“Of course like most people though, we have watched friends deal with all that comes with having a sick or disabled child and it gives you a greater sense of gratefulness for the hand your own family has been dealt,” he said.
“Above all, the Sunshine Coast has been very good to us so it was an easy decision to come on board and give back to the community that’s supported us for many years.”
Ausmar Homes is leading more than 60 local suppliers and contractors who are donating their time and resources to The House The Coast Built at no cost. The home will be fully furnished and auctioned off on the 14th of February, 2016.
Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said The House The Coast Built is due to reach lock-up stage this week so the focus is now on making the house a home and securing furniture donations.
“We quite literally want to be able to auction off everything but the kitchen sink!” Ms Rowe said.
“From major items like beds and lounge suites right down to cutlery for the draws and flower vases for the bedside tables, we want to make this home as beautiful as possible – and in turn ensure an amazing final result come auction day,” she said.
Every item in the house will be uploaded to a live auction website called ‘GalaBid’ in the coming weeks, so once people have had the chance to look through the house during the open home period, they can then make a bid on their favourite pieces online or on their smart phone.
The Good Guys, Oz Design, Andrew’s Light Up, Amart Sports, Kuddly Kids of Buderim, Daydream Leisure Furniture and local artists Kendall Perkins and Colours of Hope have all committed to the project also.
