The very first person to inspect The House The Coast Built came out on top on Auction Day yesterday with the winning bid of an impressive $505,000.

A crowd of more than 200 people watched on as the four-bedroom luxury home at Flame Tree Pocket built for free by Ausmar Homes and more than 60 generous local businesses was declared on the market at $500,000.

There was little love lost as the bidding came down to two serious registered bidders to battle it out at the Valentine’s Day Auction.

But it was an Australian businessman who is based in Taipei who placed the winning bid to secure 16 Flame Tree Avenue as his family’s new address.

Ray White Maroochydore Director and Auctioneer on the day Dan Sowden said the winning bidder was the first to inspect the home when he was back on the Sunshine Coast for a holiday, and his family had kept him up-to-date with the media attention surrounding the charity home.

“The interest in the House was strong from the get-go and being the third Wishlist project of its kind, buyers in the market knew they’d get a quality product in a brilliant location at Flame Tree Pocket and all for the good of the charity,” Mr Sowden said.

Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said the result was overwhelming.

“The sale price absolutely met our expectations and more, and it’s a credit to everyone who contributed to this amazing project,” Ms Rowe said.

“On behalf of Wishlist, I want to thank every single business that contributed to making this house the home that so many families wanted to own,” she said.

“The proceeds of the two previous house build projects changed lives – supporting the new cancer centre and ophthalmology services here on the Coast,” she said.

“Having all proceeds go towards paediatric needs this year guarantees a whole new generation of locals will have their lives changed for their better from this one charity project.”

“It’s spectacular to see a community come together to construct, furnish and sell a house in a few short months and I couldn’t be more delighted or more grateful to Ausmar Homes and their team.”

Construction Manager of the project, Sean Fraser from Ausmar Homes, said everyone who donated their time, trade and resources to The House The Coast Built should feel extremely proud.

“There was blood, sweat and tears poured in to this home, as well as bucket loads of pride and care,” Mr Fraser said.
“We didn’t just build a house – we were all part of building a happier and healthier future for kids on the Sunshine Coast and for me personally, that’s something I’ll never forget being a part of,” he said.

“As The Sun Went Down”, a gorgeous art work by revered local artist and long-time supporter of Wishlist, Kendall, was also auctioned live on the day and sold for $1,300.

A Springfree Trampoline also went under the hammer for $700.

All home wares and furniture inside the home was also available for individual online bidding leading up to the auction day and raised more than $20,000 towards to the total raised of $304,000.
