Chloe Robinson is only 14, but that’s not stopping her from entering the competitive world of business.
The local high school student has been invited to China at the end of July to work on her Mandarin and potentially source manufacturers for her product as she expands her business – MyBandz.
“Recently, I graduated from Business School for Kids in Maroochydore,” Chloe said.
“To participate, each student was required to contribute $200 of their own money towards building houses in India. In this course I had to come up with a product or service that would benefit the community and have a charitable arm.
“After some research I decided to create my own brand MyBandz. Think about it - how many times have you gotten into the shower or gone to the gym without a hairband?
“MyBandz are durable, colourful, practical hair bands, they are cool and are always there when you need them, whether they are on your wrist or in your hair.”
Chloe said her bands are made from four elastic strands woven together which makes them extremely strong and don’t have any metal or plastic to avoid hair being ripped.
The Buderim teenager is now setting her sights on Sunshine Coast not-for-profit charity Wishlist to donate 40 percent of proceeds to the foundation with funds going directly to helping sick kids.
“My goal is to be the first teen to raise more than $5000 to benefit the young patients at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital,” she added.
Wishlist Philanthropy Manager Hans de Koning admitted he was in awe of Chloe when he first met the Teenage Executive Officer (TEO) in June.
“Chloe is an absolute go-getter - a very impressive young girl,” Mr de Koning said.
“At 14, I was struggling my way through mathematics class, and here’s Chloe delving into branding, marketing and even finding the time to give back.
“We are thrilled Chloe chose Wishlist as her beneficiary.”
Chloe will be selling MyBandz at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital food court on Tuesday, July 17 and Wednesday, July 18.
“They are $5 for a pack of 12,” Chloe said.
“I can’t wait to have my very own stall at the hospital with Wishlist’s help, and I’m proud to be able to give back to local children and families.”
Wishlist is a not-for-profit organisation which directs funds to the needs of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
