Small town mum Brittney Haim couldn’t imagine life any other way without newborn triplets Ivory, Amayah and Emory.
The mum of four, partner Aaron Mooney and the babies’ proud big brother Harley, 2, are now home in Wondai after the triplets’ birth and a 10 week stay at Wishlist Centre - Wishlist's patient accommodation facility opposite the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH).
Brittney was traveling over two hours to appointments at SCUH from Wondai, until a social worker in the hospital suggested Wishlist Centre where Brittney began her stay at 28 weeks pregnant.
Staying at Wishlist Centre was massive help during her pregnancy for Brittney, “It’s just really good, everyone’s friendly and offers to help.
“Volunteer Gwen was very kind; I was too pregnant and lightheaded to stand up and make a sandwich, so she made me one.”
The triplets arrived at 33 weeks on June 7 and fortunately only spent a short time in the Neonatal Unit, where Brittney would visit them often, “It’s good to be safe and close, and even after birth when I was breastfeeding, I just walked across the road to the hospital and was there for their feeds every three hours.”
After multiple visits throughout the pregnancy journey, partner Aaron and big brother Harley joined Brittney at Wishlist Centre once the triplets were born.
“It’s a very good home away from home, which makes it very helpful,” Aaron said.
Brittney mentioned how special Wishlist Centre was for her first-born, “It was his first time going in an elevator and he would get so excited he calls it the ‘up ups’ because it would take him to the playground.
“Harley loves the babies – he wants to feed them their bottles, and when they cry he says ‘Mum help babies’.
“Everyone absolutely loves the triplets, and I don’t think I could imagine it any other way.
“I still look at them and think ‘how did I make three at once?’
“They’re all mine.”
With only approximately 60 sets of triplets born within a year in Australia, the fact that we have had 2 sets of triplets at Wishlist Centre within 12 months is amazing odds.
