REED CONSTRUCTION QUEENSLAND (RCQ) 2014 CORPORATE OUTRIGGING WINNERS 2014

02 Dec 2014

Reed Construction Queensland (RCQ) was awarded their trophy as the 2014 Corporate Outrigging Winners of the 2014 Wishlist Row for Cancer.

RCQ took out the title ahead of previous winners Poole Group who came in second. A race that combines fun, competiveness and fund-raising, saw over 200 individuals and 26 corporate teams competing and more than $25,000 raised for Sunshine Coast cancer patients.

All teams gave it their all but it was RCQ who had an extra incentive this year. Sadly, one of their staff member’s sons passed away from a brain tumour a week before the race.

The Wishlist Row for Cancer in the last nine years has raised more than $200,000 for initiatives benefiting local cancer patients. With next year being the 10th, Wishlist events co-ordinator Lisa Wilson hopes the event will be bigger and better.

“The funds help us supply the cancer centre we built and helps cancer patients to stay local on the coast,” Mrs Wilson said.

Previous years have raised money for numerous hospital needs including: $53,000 towards furnishing and supporting the needs of Reed Charity House, a ‘home away from home’ for patients of Nambour Hospital, the Cancer Centre and their families; $58,400 towards building a $310,000 ‘Sky Bridge’ connecting Reed Charity House to Nambour Hospital for elderly, sick and wheelchair-bound patients; Ongoing support of the Sunshine Coast Cancer Centre including a $37,000 microscope for the research lab; And $23,750 for Nine NIKI Pumps so cancer and immunology patients can self-inject immunoglobulin therapy in the comfort of their own home rather than attending the hospital each month.”
