For the second year running members of the Maleny art community hosted an extravagant fundraiser featuring interactive art, trivia & an auction that raised $6,600 for Maleny Memorial Hospital.
Hosted by Maleny Art Direct’s Jo Howard and held at Flaxton gardens the “Mad House” Morning Tea hosted local art legends including Vanessa Perkse, Viera Keogh and Julya Hergarty with an edible art work by Gary Myers.
The funds raised will help provide a non-touch tonometer which will enable staff at Maleny Memorial Hospital to measure eye pressure in patients allowing them to detect symptoms of cataracts and prevent vision loss after head injuries.
Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said “Having members of our Maleny community willing to host such a brilliant fundraiser for their local hospital is really heartwarming.”
Maleny Art Direct’s Jo Howard and a variety local artists were instrumental in the organisation of the event which she hopes to keep building year on year.
“The Mad House Morning Tea gives our community the chance to be creative for a wonderful cause, we’re so excited for next year’s event already, from little things big things grow”
