On Sunday, October 20, the shores of Lake Kawana were alive with energy and purpose as more than 900 participants laced up their sneakers for the annual Wishlist K’s 4 Cancer event.
This year’s turnout was the largest since the event began in 2018, with runners and walkers supporting cancer patients on the Sunshine Coast and raising over $50,000.
The funds will be directed to two essential pieces of equipment for breast cancer patients - the Sentimag and Faxitron machines.
These machines will offer local cancer patients less invasive, more effective treatments close to home.
These state-of-the-art tools are expected to improve outcomes for breast cancer patients, providing them with cutting-edge care at Nambour Hospital.

Beyond these crucial machines, Wishlist is also on a mission to raise $20,584 to establish a dedicated Patient Preparation Room at the Adem Crosby Cancer Centre at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
This space will be used to ensure patients are carefully immobilised and fitted with custom devices, enabling precise and effective radiation therapy.
Wishlist Fundraising and Partnerships Manager Lisa Wilson said the record-breaking turnout was a testament to the community’s support for those facing cancer on the Sunshine Coast.
“The funds raised at Wishlist K’s 4 Cancer will make a significant difference in the lives of local patients, allowing them to receive world-class treatment without needing to leave the region,” Ms Wilson said.
"Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, or supported this fantastic event - including our sponsors PerryCooper Property, Mason Finance, SRJ Walker Wayland, Osteophi Birtinya and East Coast Traffic Services.
"Your contribution will help bring life-saving equipment and care to cancer patients in our community."
