Heroes of the House: Format Kitchens

29 Apr 2019

Having somewhere to make a
cup of tea and a home cooked meal can make all the difference for families
doing it tough.

Fortunately, the 30-strong
team at Format Kitchens have stepped up to donate their time and materials to
install an amazing kitchen plus vanities and entertainment units for The House
The Coast Built, helping Wishlist and Ausmar Homes build a home away from home
close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for families with critically
ill loved ones.

The Warana-based kitchen
company are not new to Wishlist’s cause, having worked on two previous house
projects as well as The House For Life Project for Brisbane’s Mater Foundation.
The Format Kitchen crew are true local heroes.

General Manager of Format
Kitchens, David Austin, knows all too well the importance of affordable
accommodation for families when a child or loved-one becomes ill.

“Recently close friends of
mine were six months into a 12-month family trip around Australia in a caravan,
when they found out their nine-year-old daughter had a brain tumour.”

“Luckily accommodation was
available and the family are currently staying in Ronald McDonald House in
Perth, while their daughter undergoes treatment,” said Mr Austin.

David’s story is a common
one. Last year alone, 124 children admitted to the Sunshine Coast University
Hospital were from interstate or overseas.

More than 30 other businesses
from across the Coast and their employees have come together to help Wishlist
and Ausmar Homes build The House The Coast Built—a legacy to help thousands of
families through a tough time.
