The Gympie Pistol Club has raised $1,540 through a successful raffle to support Wishlist’s new Gympie Patient Transport Service.
This contribution will help connect Gympie Hospital patients with essential specialist care at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and Nambour Hospital.
Hospital charity Wishlist, in partnership with Sunshine Coast Health, recently launched the vital transport service, which provides a lifeline for Gympie residents in need of specialist care.
Operating during its trial phase, the 19-seat bus offers a free and convenient service for patients and carers, removing the stress of arranging transportation to medical appointments.
The funds were raised through a raffle organised by the Gympie Pistol Club, with support from Abletech Underground Group who generously donated the grand prize.
“We’re so grateful to Gympie Pistol Club President Duncan McGrath and his team who spearheaded this raffle,” Wishlist Partnerships and Fundraising Lead Jasmine Wheatley said.
“Their community spirit and generosity are making a tangible difference for patients and their families.”
The Wishlist Gympie Patient Transport Service is free for patients, who simply need to arrive at the designated pickup point on time and present their appointment letter or confirmation text to the driver.
Bookings can also be made via clinical teams.
