When young daughter Sahara needed her tonsils removed, mum Mikayla Salta, husband Dylan, and two daughters found their home away from home for two weeks at Wishlist hospital accommodation – Reed House.
“As a parent, watching my daughter recover was challenging, so having access to such wonderful care and support meant a lot,” Mikayla shared.
Grateful for their stay, the family decided to give back, “Donating toys and games for children was our way of paying it forward and helping other families going through similar challenges.”
Rallying their community, the Salta family collected new and pre-loved toys through family, friends, and local mothers’ groups.
"We did not do this alone – we reached out to the community, and a lot of families generously donated, who we cannot thank enough."
The donation of toys aims to bring joy to future young guests at Reed House, helping them feel at home during their stay, “We hope the toys will bring smiles to children's faces and provide comfort to parents during difficult times.”
Reflecting on their experience, Mikayla expressed gratitude for the Reed House team and Wishlist volunteers, “Lee and John at Reed House were so very welcoming and loving; they made our stay feel like we were at home. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and support.”
Thanks to donations like these, Wishlist hospital accommodation continue to offer warmth and comfort to families during difficult times.
