VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GYMPIE HOSPITAL KIOSK

02 Feb 2015

When you grab your morning coffee, or lunchtime sandwich or afternoon snack from the Gympie Hospital Kiosk, you may not realise the friendly smiles behind the counter are volunteers.

Wishlist volunteers donate their time and skills to keep the kiosk running and ensure that staff, patients and visitors have a variety of food and drinks all day.

With 100 percent of the kiosk sales going directly back into the hospital, more volunteers are needed to keep the kiosk running smoothly.

Wishlist Coffee House Manager Richard Ward said they are looking for regular, consistent volunteers who are around for the long term.

“We need volunteers who are committed to the Wishlist Coffee House and are prepared to give their own time for the needs of the Gympie Hospital,” Mr Ward said.

“With all profit being directed back into the hospital via much needed equipment, your reward is knowing that you are directly helping the local community.”

By volunteering, you will be able to continue to provide quality nourishment at the Hospital as well as engaging in a great social opportunity.

Wishlist is behind the kiosk initiative which opened in 2013 and serves as a multiple key purpose providing community services through affordable quality food and beverages. Buying from the kiosk ensures quality health care is available for families of the Gympie community.

Lisa Rowe, Wishlist’s CEO is proud of the Coffee House’s achievements to date.

“All funds that will be raised through the Coffee House from now on are tied up in important equipment purchases and research funding,” said Lisa.

“We are thrilled to be announcing some new and very exciting equipment to the Hospital shortly. Watch this space.”

If you have a few hours to spare to serve behind a counter or help with food preparation, please phone the Wishlist office on 5470 6598 or email us at: sc-wishlist@health.qld.gov.au.

Kisok opening hours are Monday-Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm.
