Wishlist has received a generous $7,085 grant from the Buderim Foundation, which has just been used to order a much-needed single-arm wheelchair for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) Rehabilitation Unit.
This specialised wheelchair will help long-term hospital patients with limited mobility regain independence.
For patients who have lost movement on one side of their body, even simple tasks - like reaching for a glass of water, enjoying some sunshine, or socialising - can feel impossible without assistance.
The wait for busy nursing staff not only delays these activities but can also negatively impact mental wellbeing.
With this grant from the Buderim Foundation, Wishlist has already placed the order for one of the wheelchairs.
