As the $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital gets ready to open their wards, Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel is strengthening community ties by teaming up with Wishlist.
The not-for-profit charity supports the needs of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, directing more than $1.7 million last financial year towards ground-breaking research, service programs, scholarships and medical equipment.
Recently, the new $15 million Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel became a corporate partner of the charity as its preferred restaurant and conference venue on the Sunshine Coast.
Hotel General Manager John Örning said the lakeside hotel was already appealing to the corporate market with their conference rooms regularly booked for breakfast, lunch and evening functions and meetings.

“We are excited to partner with Wishlist in time for the opening of the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital,” Mr Örning said.
“We support the amazing work the Wishlist team does in raising vital funds for the public health service, which most importantly helps patients and their families.”
Known for its modern décor, classy design, luxurious rooms and acclaimed customer service, the hotel which opened earlier this year is poised to become a hotspot for corporate visitors to the Sunshine Coast.
Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said the venue was in the heart of the $800 million Oceanside Health Hub development and conveniently placed for health staff, patients and families.
“The crowded Wishlist demountable at Nambour Hospital is not ideal for board or event organising committee meetings so we needed somewhere central, with delicious food and wonderful service to host our many meetings,” Ms Rowe said.

“John’s team look after us in every way. The facilities are second to none, the food is delicious and customer service is exceptional, so thanks to the partnership with Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel we’re now able to take care of business, our supporters and importantly as a charity, our bottom line.”
The 4.5-star hotel offers 81 rooms ranging from king deluxe to executive suites and has been designed for business travellers seeking a productive but relaxing stay.
For meetings and events, there are two conference rooms which open up into one versatile setting. Catering for up to 90 people for banquets or 120 people for cocktail events, the purpose-built function space flows out onto Wildflower Restaurant and Bar’s waterfront deck and can be tailored to all conferencing needs.
