Badcock Foundation funds power wheelchair

13 Dec 2024

Loss of movement impacts physically and psychologically, making simple tasks such as moving towards companionship, a glass of water or to sit in the sunshine extremely challenging without nursing staff.

Neil Badcock and Max Largo from the Neil Badcock Foundation have pledged $20,000 to purchase a third power wheelchair for the Rehab Department at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, with the remainder going to Wishlist hospital accommodation.

The health staff and rehab patients are thrilled with the generous donation of the wheelchair that grants patients to reclaim their independence during their rehabilitation.

Power wheelchairs are helpful in giving rehab patients facing a long road to recovery independence, allowing them to move freely around the hospital, attend physiotherapy, meet the Wishlist therapy dogs, and enjoy fresh air outside - all without needing to ask for assistance from nursing staff.

Thanks to the Honda Foundation, Sunshine Toyota, Sam & Dan’s fundraiser, and Neil and Max from the Badcock Foundation, Wishlist have been able to purchase three electric wheelchairs, a cost of $17,299 each.
