Reed House: A community project
Reed House, formerly known as Reed Charity House, was built in 2009 as an emergency medical accommodation service for patients of Nambour Hospital and their families. This has since expanded to support patients, families & carers who need to stay close to all Sunshine Coast hospitals.
Built by generous contractors and local construction company, RCQ, the impressive facility is the result of collaboration between The Reed Charity Foundation, Wishlist, the Australian Red Cross, local Rotary Clubs and the wider community.
In 2012, after three years of fundraising, the Doug Biggs Memorial Sky Bridge connected Reed House directly to Nambour Hospital to significantly improve access for patients. In 2018, Wishlist resumed the management of Reed House to continue to enhance patient care across the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and the wider community.
